The Chicago Abortion Fund’s Fund-A-Thon is part of a nationwide peer-to-peer fundraising event from March to May where participants ask the people they know to help them reach a personally meaningful fundraising goal by making a donation to their local abortion fund! You can fundraise solo, or link up with friends to form a team. It’s a fun and easy way to mobilize the folks around you to meet this moment of crisis for abortion access, and to directly fund abortion (and other needs!) for people who are facing barriers.

With so much uncertainty for the future of abortion access, we are leaning on our community more than ever to ensure that people get the support they need to access abortion care. The Fund-a-Thon raises funds directly for abortion, brings in new people to our movement, de-stigmatizes abortion through heart-to-heart conversations, educates our community about access barriers, and makes a strong political statement about the world we want to create together. Meanwhile, teach-ins, community events, celebrations mean that participants can deepen their connection to other abortion access supporters in Chicago & beyond!

One thing to start thinking about now: you can fundraise as a team, or decide to fly solo.

Starting a team: Already a part of a group? Ask around to see if some of your book club besties/people in your mom group chat/coworkers/study buddies/etc. would be down to raise money together for abortion access. Whether you’re a team of two or a team of 20, having an accountability buddy + thought partner(s) sets you up for success and widens your reach.
