Online Community Guidelines
Our community is our power. As our online space has grown, we are implementing new online community guidelines to make sure all of us feel as safe & supported as possible!
Welcome to the Chicago Abortion Fund online community. This is a space to further our mission to advance reproductive autonomy and justice for everyone by providing financial, logistical, and emotional support to people seeking abortion services and by building collective power and fostering partnerships for political and cultural change.
The goal of our community is to create a world where everyone has the freedom and autonomy to create lives, families, and communities that are healthy, safe, and thriving and where the full range of reproductive choices, including abortion, are accessible and affirmed.
To meet the collective goals of our community, it’s important that all members feel safe and supported. To help everyone have the best possible experience, please review and follow our community guidelines:
Be respectful. Critique ideas, not people. Understand that people in the community may have had different life experiences and a different perspective to yours. You may not demonstrate gross or repeated disrespect for another person(s) on the CAF social media pages. We do not tolerate comments that are:
Abusive, threatening, harassing, or attacking others
Hateful in language targeting race, ethnicity, gender, identity, sexual preference or orientation, nationality, or political or religious beliefs. This includes coded hate speech.
Promoting violence.
Spamming in any nature. This includes but is not limited to identical comments made on the same post or across multiple posts.
Stay on topic. This is a space to discuss and advocate for abortion access and reproductive justice. We are unapologetically pro-abortion & pro-reproductive justice here.
Protect your own privacy and the privacy of others. Remember that your comments on our posts are public. Do not post personal information that you would not be comfortable sharing with a stranger or information that may be used to identify you or others, such as home or work addresses, email addresses, or phone numbers.
Avoid spreading misinformation. You may not post fraudulent, misleading, or erroneous comments to intentionally spread misinformation.
We reserve the right to delete comments at our discretion and block any repeat offenders. Our goal is to apply these guidelines fairly and equitably, but moderation is a human process, and even with the best intentions, inconsistencies may occur. CAF regularly reviews comments in a good faith effort to moderate according to our stated Community Guidelines; however, violations may not be immediately resolved outside working hours. We aim to facilitate a safe space; please message us if you see a post that is harmful.
